Patagonia, known worldwide for its quality outdoor clothing and accessories, has set itself the goal of doing everything within its power to protect life on our planet. This means investing not only time and effort, but also developing sustainable products and donating at least 1% of its profits to environmental organisations, while encouraging others to do the same. Patagonia realises that it's only together we can preserve our beautiful world for future generations.
The Activist Company
1% FOR THE PLANET
Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, together with Craig Mathews founded the organization '1% for the Planet' in 2002: an international network of companies committed to donating one percent of their annual sales to environmental protection. Since its foundation in 1985, Patagonia has supported various environmental organisations, donating either one percent of their annual turnover or 10 percent of their profit, depending on which amount is greater. By 2019, an impressive $89m had been collected. The aim of this non-profit association is to motivate companies and individuals to make their own contribution to environmental protection.
Vjosa Forever is about the long struggle for the future of this unique river system. It's marked by uncertainty and opportunism, but also by hope for the creation of the Vjosa National Park, the first of its kind in Europe. A pawn of political upheaval, many fear that this "Queen of Europe" remains in danger. That's why people everywhere have an obligation to stand up for the Vjosa and ensure that it always remains as wild as it is. You can help create the first wild river national park in Europe by sharing this video and supporting the #VjosaNationalParkNow initiative on a political level as well.
