In 1998, former bouldering world champion Mauro Calibani had the idea for E9 whilst climbing in Meschia, Italy. Fuelled by his passion for the sport, he wanted to design a line of fresh and exciting clothing for rock climbing and bouldering. Calibani decided that the sportswear should be unique in design, function, fit and resilience. It should also draw inspiration from (and protect) nature. That is why E9 products are designed and manufactured exclusively in Italy.

Calibani certainly succeeded in creating a brand that stood out from the rest and today E9 is the number one rock climbing clothing brand in Europe. The company’s range has expanded to include ideal athletic designs for bouldering, trad, deep water solo and even urban wear. Oh and in case you wondered, the company’s name ‘E9’ refers to a level of difficult and dangerous climbing. The higher the number the more difficult and dangerous the way – so an E9 is only beaten by an E10 route.
