Edelrid Ropes

The Edelrid climbing ropes are an affordable option for novice climbers seeking a lightweight rope with decent handling and durability. The Thermo Shield technology preserves the rope's pliability and handling properties throughout time. The ropes have been shown to be rather resilient and simple to grip.

The Edelrid Boa is a fine example of a lightweight 9.8mm sports climbing rope. The Thermo Shield treatment enhances its manoeuvrability. It is available in lengths of 60 and 70 metres and features a rope bag.

Features and characteristics of Edelrid Ropes

Here are some of the characteristics of Edelrid ropes and the Boa rope in particular.

Handling

It ties nicely, behaves well in tether devices, and is simple to clip and manipulate with equipment. Due, in part, to Edelrid's Thermo Shield treatment, the rope's excellent handling is maintained even after frequent usage. Thermo Shield is a thermal process applied to individual strands that is intended to prolong the rope's pliability and handling.

Resistance to Dirt

The most disappointing aspect of the Edelrid ropes is their resistance to dirt. The Boa's stunning bright green rope gradually becomes dusty and black with usage, making the centre mark difficult to see.

Durability

The Edelrid rope resists repeated, hard usage during sport climbing and traditional climbing in a variety of environments. The sheath is resistant to wear even after traversing hundreds of steep limestone peaks. Even after being used for months, the rope will still be easy to handle, even though it gets dirty quickly.

Extra Features

The rope bag included with the rope is an exciting bonus. Generally speaking, rope packs that come with ropes have little value and function. The rope bag included with the Edelrid rope is an excellent rope bag that has been shown to be highly handy, robust, and well-designed. It features a nice tarp that rolls out from the bag, packs up fast and effortlessly, and has a great buckle and cinch system that is simple to use.

Weight

At 62 grammes per metre, the Boa is lighter than the majority of tested ropes and can save a few ounces compared to the heaviest 9.8mm ropes.

Value

The Edelrid half ropes are one of the least expensive ropes on the market today. It is an excellent value given its comparable performance and feature quality. At $150, the Boa is $50 less expensive or more expensive than the majority of climbing ropes.
