Lowe Alpine® takes its name from the founders of the brand, the Lowe brothers. Greg,
Mike and Jeff Lowe are climbing, skiing, hiking and alpine enthusiasts from Utah who
developed Lowe Alpine in the late 1960s to offer people reliable, durable backpacks
for their outdoor adventures. Lowe Alpine produces high-quality backpacks designed
to meet the demanding needs of outdoor enthusiasts. All models are well
manufactured, offer their users plenty of storage possibilities and are easy to
carry thanks to their low weight. Lowe Alpine only uses high-quality and durable
materials that can easily withstand harsh weather conditions.

Lowe Alpine pioneered the internal frame backpack in the 1970’s and continues to push the envelope on trekking backpack design to this day. Lowe Alpine’s backpacks can be found on the backs of explorers around the world, from high on glaciated peaks to deep in forested jungles to nestled in city coffee shops. While Lowe Alpine’s backpack lineup includes packs with many different features, they all share one thing in common: the ruggedness and versatility to go anywhere and complement any adventure.
Lowe Alpine Carry Systems
The majority of Lowe Alpine’s trekking backpacks use an internal frame, but Lowe Alpine’s innovations in backpack construction have branched out into three different designs. The AirZone Centro carry system features an enormous cut-out in the middle of the pack’s back panel, which serves the dual purposes of dramatically decreasing weight and increasing airflow. The tensioned mesh back is extremely comfortable and prevents sweat buildup, while the exact position of the cut-out can be modified by up to five centimetres to tailor the perfect pack fit. Lowe Alpine’s AirZone Fixed carry system resembles the AirZone Centro system in many ways, except you’ll notice that your back comes in contact with far less mesh when you put the backpack on. This reduced contact area further increases breathability and reduces pressure points, making this carry system extremely comfortable for heavy loads and extended trips. Finally, the Air Contour+ carry system links the pack frame to the shoulder straps and hip belts to allow you to efficiently carry heavy loads on steep terrain. The back panel is moulded to wrap around the spine and the hip belt extends all the way around your pelvis, which together ensure that Lowe Alpine trekking packs using the Air Contour+ system are exceedingly comfortable.
Lowe Alpine Pack Styles
Lowe Alpine trekking backpacks vary in their exact purposes. Some, for example, have ice axe loops and other external straps that make them perfect candidates for mountaineering. Other Lowe Alpine packs are more streamlined, with compressible top compartments that allow the volume of the pack to easily shrink or grow as the need arises. Almost all of Lowe Alpine’s trekking backpacks are contoured for either men or women, allowing you to find the perfect fit to match your shoulders and hips. In addition, Lowe Alpine packs are good for much more than just multi-day trips. Lowe Alpine also makes rucksacks with capacities between 20-30 litres – perfect for a day hike, urban commuting, or urban exploration. In addition, many Lowe Alpine daypacks are multi-use, with plenty of compartments for organising your stuff and carrying a laptop.
