For lightweight self-inflating support, the ProLite Apex brings packable performance and legendary Therm-a-Rest support. The self-inflating foam measures 2 inches (5 cm) and features the StrataCore construction, a design that provides the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any self-inflating foam construction. The ProLite Apex 3.8 R-value allows adventurers to stave off the cold during three-season pursuits.
The packable self-inflating pad features the high-performance WingLock valve, which has three-times the airflow rate of the classic valve thanks to a larger opening and one-way inflation. The pad includes a compact stuff sack.

The R-value (= heat transfer coefficient) indicates how well the mat conducts heat and is used to indicate its insulation properties. The higher the R-value, the better the mat insulates in regards to how much heat is lost through it. Therefore, the R-value can be used to assess the temperature properties of insulating mats.

In general, I have to say that the mat kept everything it promised at the beginning. Light, small pack size, good insulation values and super comfortable. Now back in action and it happened on the first night. It popped 2-3 times and a big bump formed in the middle of the mat. It seems as if the air chambers in the middle part have said goodbye. According to outdoor forums, the problem is widespread! I can no longer exchange the part, since I was on a 14-day tour, had to get a replacement as soon as possible, and due to lack of space the APEX was thrown in the garbage! Bought November 2019, 5 weeks in use! Clear bad buy for this price!
