Nordisk Vanna 2.5 Self-Inflatable Mat burnt red/black (burnt red/black)

Vanna 2.5 is a very light mummy shaped mat offering great cushioning despite its very low weight and pack size. Its hybrid zone foam construction distributes air through both horisontal and vertical tubes providing maximum insulation in the areas where high pressure points are located – and the strong 20D Honeycomp rip-stop surface covering the front and back is both durable and comfortable. Weight has been key to the development of this mat, but without compromising comfort and functionality. Vanna is therefore equipped with a push/pull valve designed to make both in- and deflation as easy and quick as possible.

The R-value (= heat transfer coefficient) indicates how well the mat conducts heat and is used to indicate its insulation properties. The higher the R-value, the better the mat insulates in regards to how much heat is lost through it. Therefore, the R-value can be used to assess the temperature properties of insulating mats.

Great part! Pretty tough. Unfortunately not self-inflating at all. A suitable pump bag is not available from the manufacturer itself, nor from the largest outdoor shop in Berlin. It only scores with its robustness and that's the only reason I would recommend it. Incidentally, I have the Vanna 3.8.

I spent a total of 7 weeks on it as a side sleeper and always slept well. The bag is a little tight, but sufficient, you can also simply take the included strap and leave out the bag. On the last tour I had a small hole. I repaired that with a repair kit on the way and then at home with SIL-Tec.

I used them as a beginner. I liked its weight, but it was quite bulky. After a bivouac tour, she had numerous holes. The material cannot be repaired, so it is essentially a disposable product. It's too expensive for that. Don't know why they call them self-inflating.
