The Makke Pant is designed for the more demanding days in the outdoors. A lightweight full function trekking pant with a narrow fit and modern cut, engineered for an active user. The Schoeller Dryskin fabric stands up to abuse from branches and rubbing against granite. The Dryskin softshell panels also enhance flexibility where you need it most and Schoeller Keprotec reinforced hems will keep your insteps intact. When you need to cool down, open the inseam ventilation zippers, the hand pockets and lower leg zippers.
Very nicely made using good quality materials. Schoeller Dryskin is the best softshell around, in my opinion, and the LPC material is light and smooth, taking a wax very well. The fit of the Makke is about as close as they could be to a legging whilst still being trouser and they are certainly different to most hiking trousers in this respect. I'm usually a Euro 44 Reg or Long (certainly a 44 Long in Fjallraven trousers) so went for the smallest size Lundhags do in a Regular leg length, i.e. a 46 R. These are just fine for a very snug but fully mobile fit. My experience of Schoeller softshell is that it adapts a little to your shape over time so a snug fit from new is OK.
The only real downside to the Makke's are the comically small pocket openings - I can barely get my hands into the leg pocket and have to fish around with my fingers in the hip pockets. This isn't because the trousers are so tight, just that the zipped openings are so small. A more open, articulated pocket top with a flap would make the thigh pockets much easier to use and i don't think the hip pockets need either a zip or a flap - just a wider, articulated opening (though I think a flap would be nice). The Keprotec panels at the leg endings are very good and stop the trousers becoming water-logged around your ankles. I like that the boot hooks are removable as it means you can also adjust them to work over or under your boot laces - I'm definitely an under-the-laces man!
I'd have no hesitation in giving the Makke Pants a five-star rating if the pockets were properly sorted out.
