SIZE GUIDE - CHILDREN

General size guide for clothes and accessories

Recommending a certain size for a particular age is difficult since sizes differ a lot from child to child, but below you'll find some general guidelines.

Centilong (cl) corresponds to centimeters, that is, an 80 cm tall child should wear a garment that’s size 80 cl. Often, you’ll want to buy clothes that are a little too big, so your child doesn’t outgrow them too quickly. But be careful when buying bigger sizes of outer wear. Outer garments that are too large prevent children from moving freely, while a shirt that’s a bit big is not usually a problem.

In order for you to feel confident when shopping with us (even when you’re unsure of your child’s size) we offer free shipping over £99 and 100-days of free returns.

General size guide for shoes

Children’s feet grow a lot during a year, so it’s very important to measure both feet and shoes regularly.

How to measure children’s feet

Feel free to contact us at the store and we’ll be happy to help you measure your child's feet. If you want to measure your child’s feet yourself, here’s how to do it:

  1. Place a piece of paper against a wall.
  2. Place the child's foot on the paper with the heel next to the wall.
  3. Mark the tip of their toes with a pen.
  4. Remove the foot and then measure from the edge of the paper to the line.

Extra margin in shoes

When a child walks, the foot moves about 5 mm forward at each step: this means you need to leave some extra space in all shoes. We recommend that you leave the following space allowances when buying shoes:

Type of shoe Indoor shoes, slippers and dress shoes Autumn/winter shoes Spring- and summer shoes Rubber boots
Extra space ca 1cm 1.5-2 cm 1-1.5 cm 1.5-2 cm

Tip: We recommend using an insole with brand new rubber boots for improved comfort and fit.

Shoe size

The size of children's feet and how quickly they grow are very individual, but here's an approximate size guide:

Age 4-9 months 9 months-1 year 1-2 years 2-4 years 4-6 years 6-7 years 7-8 years
Size 16-18 19-21 22-24 25-27 28-30 31-33 34-36

This is approximately how much a child’s feet grow in a year:

Growth ca 2cm ca 1.5cm ca 1cm
