Organic Cotton
Edelrid only uses organic cotton certified according to the strict Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The GOTS is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria.
Organically produced cotton uses no toxic, persistent pesticides and fertilizers or any other harmful substances. Genetically manipulated cotton plants may not be used. Conventional cotton is mainly harvested by machine and a chemical defoilant is often applied. This method is not used for organic cotton. The GOTS also considers the social interests of cotton farmers.
