Boardshorts are not only great for the surf or SUP board; even though they originated in the surfing scene, many people wear them around town. These shorts, made of lightweight synthetic material, are usually a little wider and longer than pure swimming shorts and often don't have a lining inside. This doesn't affect their suitability for swimming, but it does mean they dry faster, which is very helpful when on the SUP. Boardshorts are also more robust and should be able to withstand the rigours of surfing.
